I am really ashamed of whats going inside this my birth place - Maldivian communities.I cant believe it. I was so shocked to see that it was by an "Imaam".Well i was reading the minivanenws today morning and was really shocked to see this article.
"Island Shattered As Imam Accused Of Molesting Children"
An imam has been accusing young girl for almost a decade. News says that he has been using the quran classes to sexually molest girls aged as young as six. Some of the girls are now 19. Almost a decade ago these things started and no one ever said anything. Now he has got busted. Thanks to who ever it is who busted him.

How could they let such things happen?. Oh Damn..!! I just cant believe that they hid this story for this long!!. A decade? How could they hide these things?.
All are talking about the Womens Rights and if women cant speak up them selves. Who is gonna speak up?. What help can we give?. I just don't understand this.

hey xefrox
you are doing wrong again. u gotta make those girls speak up to the meida. ugotta make thm stand up.
Its a shame. It doesn't matter who ever it is. Imaam or katheeb, It is wrong.
Did you know that the gender ministry has an online report abuse page at http://www.mgf.gov.mv/en/report_child_abuse.php
I wonder if anyone has submitted anything to it.
Its so easy to say, "Girls! Stand up for your own rights !"
BUT
Has anyone ever thought about:
1)whether girls know what their rights are
2)how to stand for their rights?
3)where or whom to go to?
In the cases of the imam, katheeb, the HCSE Maths teacher and the 12 year old who got gang raped. It was alwasy the girl who paid the price - double over. First, they were taunted, by their own community and peers, then on top of it, the judge ruled that the perpetrators were innocent, victimising these girsl again.
In a situation like that, how many girls do you think would speak up? Atleast if they kept quiet, their agony would be private. When they speak up, it becomes public and on top of it ther eis no justice.
Create a supathetic understanding environment and empower women before asking them to speak up. otherwise you are setting them to fail!
